Just 5 minutes walk from Cusco Main saquare is, the Montero's House. Entering through the corner of Plateros, we went to Calle Saphi, modern and wide paved street, is route to start the tour by bus to the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman and the route of the Tram of Cusco. From the top of Tambo de Montero we can see the churches of the Cathedral and the Society of Jesus, as well as part of the ruins of Sacsayhuaman. The police station in Cusco is 50 m. from the House, which provides greater security for local and foreign tourists.

History of Casa Montero

Montero´s House: Tradition in Cusco Tell that by the year of 1643 the house of Tambo de Montero, belonged to Jewish trader, Don Pedro de Espinosa Montero, who organized every weekend at his house, all kinds of gambling, with the presence of Jews from around the Cusco. Also refers to the cabal of Montero, who was asking a crucifix that had hung on the wall, the luck necessary to win, but when they do not win got a whip and started lashing the crucifix. A day of loss, the crucifix bleed after the whipping received. A white stone with veins dormant, appeared in front of the home and religious authorities condemned Montero. In exchange for salvaged from the fire, Montero had to donate all their property, including his house to the King and meet penance for life.The house is now proclaimed as the cultural heritage of the city of Cusco, being historical source, since it is also mentioned in the Traditions of Cusco Clorinda Mato Turner and Historical Data, Legends and Traditions of Cusco, in Genara Elorrieta, as well as its colonial architecture, its arches and windows are still visible inside the house.
